I have a few coworkers who have adjustable ones so that they can go from sitting to standing--or just stand at their sitting desk at times--and I see them just as hunched or straining their backs and necks as much as they would otherwise.
I believe the core of his statements is that people need to get up and move around whether they are at a traditional desk or using a standing desk. Staying stationary, in addition to hunching or straining ones self, is what causes the harm.

Thanks for sharing! I love how you turned the challenge around! :-)

I wrote my first draft, reread and cleaned up every chapter after I wrote it, then read through the whole thing another time and changed a few passages, cutting a bit, calling this my second draft. Now, my husband is helping me cut some more. Ideally, I delete about 60K - 80K words since the first draft. So then I mark up that copy with edits, and type up another draft. Print that, see the errors, and do the next draft and so on. I may go through some fifteen to twenty revision drafts this way. I'm talking about pieces that are fairly short. Not sure how I would handle a full-length work. Probably the same way. I realize this uses quite a lot of paper, but I just don't catch the problems when I only work on screen.
Another very helpful trick is to read the work aloud, because the ear is more accurate than the eye when it comes to the flow of things. :-)
Best,
Shelagh
Sea Changehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08485851023475052136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26765798.post-13543957469224257622017-03-03T16:34:35.958-05:002017-03-03T16:34:35.958-05:00I'm so with you on this revising phase. What a wild ride in the world of building a platform for my business, my blogs, tips of the week, and my soon to be released book-Let Go Courageously and Live with Love: Transform Your Life with Feng Shui. I am self-publishing with Mill City Press and they've been great. Crossing my fingers that ebook gets released soon and then paperback in mid-July, but I am learning it is a process and while it will launch the date remains TBA. I have to keep taking deep breaths. A lifelong dream about to come true! Know that you are in My Grateful Heart section and you and your class and life spirit live in my heart as I mustered the courage to go for it. I sent out a hundred or more queries for my women's contemporary novel after doing my research, narrowing it down etc.
This process is crazy. I got an agent which i thought was the full battle. NOT. She spent five years trying to sell my manuscript. We finally parted ways and I self pubbed thru Amazon which I'm convinced is the best I've yet seen for quality and value in self pubbing realm. Good luck and may someone click with your manuscript soon. Hugs, BarbB.
